RESTON, Va. – Bad Influence, a Washington, D.C.-based blues band, performed live at Lake Anne Plaza on Wednesday, June 25.

The Reston Community Center hosts a plethora of music-related activities in the summertime – a different series takes place almost every day of the week. Recurring every Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. is the sunset concert series, held directly on the pier of Lake Anne Plaza.

Community members of all ages are welcome to join this free event that features a different local band each week.

“[This event] brings people together mainly,” said Donny Turay, an off-site event attendant at the Reston Community Center. “Concerts nowadays are like … $100 plus, so a free concert is something that everybody will enjoy.”

​

The sunset concert series, as well as the other music series, like the “Take a Break” concert series, provide a place to “enjoy an exciting variety of music, culture and entertainment,” according to the Reston Community Center homepage.

Around for more than 30 years, Bad Influence played a range of blues and rock songs that kept the audience engaged and dancing. Next week, a more ensemble-based group, the Radio King Orchestra, will play, introducing a more 1940’s 1940s-infused groove into the music mix.
